Welcome Prospective Parent/Guardian:

We hope you will learn many things about our school system and then plan to visit us in the heart of North Carolina’s Piedmont. Our staff is trained to teach all learners, and we pride ourselves in having the best community spirit anywhere.

As you plan to enroll your child we would like to help make the enrollment process quick and easy. First, you will need to contact the school within the area you reside to make necessary registration appointments. To prove your eligibility to enroll in Davidson County, please bring the following documents with you on the day of your appointment:

  1. Enrollment form (can be found at www.davidson.k12.nc.us) completely filled out

  2. Immunization Records

  3. Birth Certificate

  4. Parent's I.D.

  5. 2 or more Documents are required for Proof of Residency (utility bill: water, gas, electric)

  6. IEP (if applicable)

  7. For High School enrollment, previous school’s transcript recommended

Davidson County Schools offer access to the PowerSchool Parent Portal/Student Portal enabling you to view your student’s data including, but not limited to, grades and attendance. Parent Portal log in information will be available during the school’s Open House/Parent Night at the beginning of each school year. If you enroll after this time or are unable to attend the designated time, please contact the school office to obtain your log in credentials.

To protect student information covered under the FERPA (Federal Education Rights Privacy Act) law, we require face-to-face verification with a picture ID for any parent who has custodial rights to obtain the Parent Portal access information. There is no true way to confirm a person is who they say they are with a call, email or fax.

The parent on file, living with the student, can share the Access ID and Password with an out of state parent allowing for his/her own separate Parent Portal account to be created. It is up to the custodial parent(s) who they choose to share those 2 pieces of information with.

It is also possible for the child to share his/her UserName and Password to the portal with an out of state parent as well. The information the student sees is the same as the parent access. With a student account, the parent/child would share the access to a student login and no new account could be created.

Attached is a sample letter that you will receive with the Parent and Student login credentials. The step- by-step directions will be listed on your letter allowing you easy access to your child’s information. If you have any problems creating your account you can contact your child’s PowerSchool Data Manager at the school.

  1. Open the internet browser on your computer-Mozilla Firefox is the preferred browser.
  2. Type the following URL into the address bar - https://davidson.powerschool.com/public
  3. Follow the Creating an Account for the Parent Portal guidelines.
  4. Be sure to make a note of the Username and Password you create since that is what you will use from this point forward to log in with.
  5. Follow the Navigating Through the Parent Portal guidelines to view the information.
  6. Remember to log off when you are finished.

Either you or {Student Name} may track academic progress from any location that has internet access. If you do not have internet access, the public library has computers open to access your child's records. Please keep your passwords confidential so only you can access the information.  The Grades and Attendance tab will allow you to check assignments and scores by clicking on the blue number grade listed on the same row as each class. The Grades History tab will show you the grades your child received in previous grading periods. The Teacher Comments tab is used to access current teacher comments for your student and the School Bulletin tab has current announcements for the school.
