Dixie Black has served Davidson County Schools in various capacities since 1998. It was in 2003 that Mrs. Black began her career as a teacher assistant at Pilot Elementary School. She has been an active member of the Davidson County and North Carolina Association of Teacher Assistants since 2004. During this time Dixie has served as a school representative and been active within the association on the district and state level. Dixie holds an Advanced Level PDP Certificate through NCATA's Professional Development Plan and regularly attends conferences to obtain professional development to better assist her students. Dixie is the wife of Gary Black and together they have three beautiful children. Mrs. Black enjoys her job as a teacher assistant and feels that it has been one of the most important jobs she has held. The most rewarding aspect of her career is the joy of seeing the smiles on the children's faces as they learn new concepts. In her free time she enjoys reading, collecting dinner bells and spending time with her family. Dixie is also our NCATA Teacher Assistant of the Year!
